Tom Cartmill : 21st National Open Art Exhibition

Tom Cartmill's drawing Undertow (ink on paper | 130x95cm) has been selected for exhibition at the 21st National Open Art Competition. The National Open Art (NOA) is one of the UK's leading art competitions, open to amateur and professional artists in the UK and Ireland. Since their first competition and exhibition in 1996, they have grown to offer multiple prizes that recognise talent and artistic excellence in a broad variety of artistic mediums and styles. Their panel of judges changes annually and features some of the most experienced and influential figures in the art world, from Royal Academicians to critics, curators and professionals. National Open Art is administrated by the Chichester Art Trust, a registered not for profit arts charity, whose aim is to provide a truly open and fair platform for all UK and Irish artists.

Tom Cartmill : Black Swan Arts Open Exhibition.

Tom Cartmill's drawing Undertow XXI has been selected for the Black Swan Arts Open Exhibition. Over the past fifteen years, the Black Swan Arts Open has built an impressive reputation for attracting some of the best-established practitioners and emerging artists from the South, with the judges selecting diverse and innovative pieces and championing artistic excellence. The panel of judges for 2017 includes Gary Sangster, trustee from the Arnolfini, Bristol; Stephen Snoddy, director of the New Art Gallery, Walsall; Dea Vanagan, director of Hauser & Wirth Somerset; Mariella Frostrup, journalist and broadcaster. As part of this exhibition, Tom has won the coveted 'Rabley Print Editioning Prize' which will take the form of working with Rabley Drawing Centre on the development and publication of a limited edition print. The print will be launched at the 2018 London Original Print Fair, at the Royal Academy of Arts.

Multiple RGA artists : Lilies for Oscar Wilde

Reading

Dozens of local artists and makers including several RGA members have made lilies in tribute to Oscar Wilde and in response to his writings. These lilies are incorporated into an art installation. The installation is now on view at Reading Museum.

From 17 October 2017 at Haslams, later moving to Reading Museum.

Multiple RGA artists : Art Scope Gallery

CircleReading

The Art Scope Gallery displays a permanent collection of art by local artists and is open to the public all year round.
This unique exhibition space is placed at the heart of a beautiful new bespoke hospital in Reading. The stunning architecture of the building provides the ideal space for the display of contemporary art. The project promotes 40 local artists, provides a therapeutic art experience for patients and visitors to CircleReading hospital and creates an ambience of positivity for the staff working there.
All the art is for sale and all commission on sales go to Alexander Devine Children's Hospice Service. There is a café at the gallery and the hospital welcomes visitors wishing to view the art.
